A warm welcome to my website. I'm freshening things up around here - putting up a new monthly poem among other things - so do keep clicking back if you get the chance.

WONDERFUL BEAST'S 'SPLASH'
I was delighted to take part in a fundraising night for Wonderful Beast in March at a packed Jubilee Hall in Aldeburgh. I compered an evening of songs, stories, poetry, comedy, dance and music hall - with a wonderful cast of perfromers including Gemma Jones, Roger Lloyd Pack, Diana Quick - and even got the audience to take part in an 'Aldeburgh Wave' (based on the Mexican wave except you don't have to stand up). They all seemed to go away happy into the Suffolk night anyhow.

SCHOOLS' MUSIC PROJECT 2011/12 
In October and November 2011 I teamed up again with composer Fraser Trainer as part of a music project in four schools in Croydon and Sutton. I worked with children to create group poems which I then subequently fashioned into songs and handed over to Fraser to set them to music. These will be performed at the Fairfield Hall in Croydon on Friday 4 May with a 200-strong childrens' choir (gleaned from the four schools) and an orchestra. More details to follow soon.

WARE POETS
I am delighted to be judging this year's Ware Poets Open Poetry Competion (deadline 30 April 2012). I'm also pleased to be returning to Ware in July to read my own poems as part of the Competition winners evening. They are one of the best audiences to read to - you can really feel them listening.  And
if you enter the competition I might even see you there too.
